Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Welcome to the jungle we got fun and games. This movie is a ton of fun. From basically start to finish I had a smile on my face. Is it the best movie? No, but I enjoyed the Hell out of it. Jumanji is the “remake” of the 1995 film of the same name. They establish the difference between the two in the beginning with the board game from the original adapting to the times and becoming a video game. Which makes this more of a long lost sequel rather than a remake.

We all expected Kevin Hart and The Rock to have great chemistry together, but the big surprise was Jack Black. His character is the self absorbed teenage drama queen transformed into an overweight old man, and I think this is one of his funniest performances. He completely takes that attitude of a teenage girl and brings it into his body for a truly hilarious performance.  He of course is the stand out but the rest of the cast captures the fun of the film as well. The Rock as a insecure nerd, a Jock crammed into the body of Kevin Hart, and a shy smart girl turned into the perfect combination of badass and beautiful are all fun to see on the big screen.

Being a gamer myself I loved how they incorporated those video game elements into the story. I felt myself picturing how this would translate to a video game. It was a really cool meshing of genres that I love. Often times “video game movies” miss the mark and feel forced, but this felt like it fit the tone of the movie.Overall the plot is pretty basic, but i think in a situation like this it works. This world doesn't have to be fleshed out because its a video game limited by the code and programming.

This movie is full of laughs and cool action. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh or just wants to see The Rock hit the rock bottom.
