Avengers: Infinity War (Spoiler Free)

Here on Movie Buff Bros we try to not only be movie fans, but as our name states movie buffs. As such, I feel it necessary to start the review with recognition of this franchise as something truly different and revolutionary. Avengers has managed to build a massive franchise spanning 10 years and 18 movies with one consistent story arch and the same characters. They built everything up to moment, and when The Avengers finally went up against Thanos… I can happily report it was 10 years well spent.

In case you have been living under a rock for the last 10 years here is a quick recap. Earth’s mightiest hero’s The Avengers are assembled whenever a danger too great for one person arises. The Avengers have saved the world from an Alien Attack, Sentient Robots, and even from each other. Now they must come together once again for the greatest threat in the universe Thanos. Thanos is looking to collect all 5 infinity stones and if he is successful he will be so powerful that he can solve the universes overcrowding issue by wiping out half of all life with a snap of his fingers.

  This movie is built off the back of the last 10 years of film, from the opening frame you already love the characters and understand their motivations, fears, and flaws. This is a benefit Marvel has earned and most movies would kill for. What Infinity War does exceptionally well is explaining the villain Thanos, and his motivations. He may be a little crazy, but from his point of view, he is the only one in the universe that can help save the people from themselves. If he does nothing everyone will die horrible deaths due to overpopulation, if he wipes out half of all life in the universe half die in a blink of an eye and leave the rest to flourish. Not 100% sound logic, but we can understand why he is doing what he is doing.

This movie feels like you get to break out your old toys again. The action in this movie is fun and letting all the characters interact and fight side by fills Infinity War with awesome moments. It also is fun to see new characters interact with hero’s that have not meet before and how different personalities play off each other. Without spoiling the movie, look out for Thor. Since Ragnorok he has been my favorite Avenger and I will say he only gets better here in Infinity War.

My two criticisms of this movie are they have a bit of an over power problem, and a time problem Thanos with even the first couple infinity stones becomes more powerful than any of the Avengers, that makes it hard to believe when Captain America or Iron Man gets the drop on him with a punch. The Characters also are talking about how bad it would be if Thanos got all the stones, but when push comes to shove they hand them over (or their location) really easily. From a movie perspective there is not much you can do to prevent these issues, I just thought I would point them out.  

Overall, this movie is a must see. It is fun, intense, and at some points shocking. If you have liked any of the Marvel movies in the last 10 years I think you will be fully satisfied coming out of this movie.
